To install Openfiler on VMware

Openfiler is a free operating system which provides file-based network-attached storage and block-based storage area network. Openfiler is created based on rPath Linux Distribution. This article explains the method to install Openfiler on VMware.

To install Openfiler

Download the ISO file of Openfiler from its official website, and boot it into your VMware.

Click on Next in the installation wizard.

Select Keyboard preference and click Next.

Now, create partition for Openfiler as the following image.

Choose the Mount Point and click OK

Select GRUB boot loader and proceed to Next.

Configure the network as follows. Click on the Edit button.

Edit the interface as follows.

Set root password for Openfiler and proceed to Next

Installation of openfiler has started.

Reboot the machine once the installation completes.

Openfiler is getting booted.

Command prompt of Openfile appears on the screen as follows.

Now, open the browser and enter your server ip with port number 446.
eg : https://192.168.5.128:446

Login to access Openfiler . The credentials used here are:
usename : openfiler
password : password
