n August 2019 a security breach was disclosed in the world's first domain registrar Network Solutions that allowed a third-party to infiltrate some customers' personally identifiable information (PII) from some of the company's computing systems without authorization and potentially access some customers' personally identifiable information (PII).

As a result, this unauthorized access account information may have been accessed. But the account information may have been accessed that is a Web.com subsidiary since 2011 has confirmed that no credit card data was compromised as a result of this incident.

To investigate the security breach Network Solutions hired an independent cybersecurity firm. The cybersecurity firm confirmed that the contact details such as name, address, phone numbers, email address and information about the services that Network Solutions offer to a given account holder were alone hacked not the credit card details.

The Network Solutions has already alerted its customers in July 2009 regarding the breach and after the unauthorized access happened the company requested all its customers to reset their account passwords and they also recommended the customers to frequently reset their passwords as it is good security practice.
