PXE is one of the network booting methods used in Linux distributions. PXE stands for Preboot eXecution Environment. It is used to enable a system to boot through a network interface card instead of using CD/DVD or USB bootable drives. The PXE distributes the IP addresses and download the files to the client systems with the help of DHCP and TFTP server.
