GPU

GPU, expanded as graphics processing unit, is a computer chip which is used for rendering images. GPU performs rapid mathematical calculations for rendering the images. The mathematical calculations ease the usage of CPU.  It creates lighting effects and transforms objects every time a 3D scene is redrawn. A GPU performs parallel operations. Although it is used for 2D data as well as for zooming and panning the screen, a GPU is essential for smooth decoding and rendering of 3D animations and video.
