How to increase LVM size without unmounting

Is it possible to extend the size of LVM without unmounting the partition..??

Its possible most of the linux partitions (eg: ext2, ext3, ext4, xfs) could be extended without unmounting.

Please post with the exact partition type that you need to extend.
