'The Nasty List' Instagram Phishing Scam Targets Instagram Credentials

5447

There is a new phishing scam on Instagram masquerading in the name of 'The Nasty List' which targets the social media users' login credentials.

If it manages to lure victims, the scammers can probably use their Instagram accounts to further promote this scam.It works further when the scammers send messages to the followers of hacked accounts claiming that they were spotted on the ‘Nasty List’.

The Instagram accounts from which these scammers send messages will have profile names such as ‘The Nasty’, ‘Nasty List’, or ‘YOUR ON HERE!!’.Their profiles include a description similar to “People are really putting all of us on here, I'm already in 37th position if your reading this you must be on it too” or “WOW you are really on here, ranked 100! this is horrible, CAN'T WAIT TO REVEAL THE TOP 10!”

Also, the scammer profiles have a link in their bio, which will lead the users to a legitimate looking Instagram login page, when clicked. If the victims try to login with their credentials, their Instagram account will get compromised as the scammers get hold of their credentials.

Users can stay out of it, but identifying the fakeness of the login page as it is located at nastylist-instatop50[.]me, which is not a legitimate Instagram page.
