Mixxx is a free open source applications used by the DJs to mix music. It supports reading songs and playlists, via iTunes. Also, it supports several audio formats such as MP3, M4A/AAC, OGG, and FLAC audio. Some of its notable features are djustable EQ shelves, timecode vinyl control, recording, and Shoutcast broadcasting. It is really easy to install Mixxx on Ubuntu and this tutorial covers the ground on the same process.

Installing Mixxx

In order to install Mixxx, make sure you add the needed repository by running the following command.

gpg: keyring `/tmp/tmpwawd_cvn/pubring.gpg' created
gpg: requesting key 4716DAB5 from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: /tmp/tmpwawd_cvn/trustdb.gpg: trustdb created
gpg: key 4716DAB5: public key " Launchpad PPA for Mixxx Release Managers" imported
gpg: no ultimately trusted keys found
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: imported: 1 (RSA: 1)
OK

Once it is done, you can update the newly added repository using the following command.

root@linuxhelp:~# apt-get update
