Firefox has released the final version of its Firefox 52.0, which followed nine beta releases, on March 7, 2016. The newly released version is available with the binary and source packages of the most hyped Mozilla Firefox 52.0 web browser, which supports multiple platforms including the OS heavyweights such as GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows.

The Firefox community is glad to announce that its latest release of Firefox 52 is an ESR (Extended Support Release) branch which means it will be supported until March-April 2018.

Currently there are two ESR branches available in the name of Mozilla Firefox 52.0 and 45.x, the latter utility was also recently updated to version 45.8.0, and also an additional security update in the form of version 45.9.0 will take place in a week’ s time along with the first point release of Firefox 52.1. The much expected first point release will give the system integrators enough time to move to Firefox 52 ESR.

New features in Firefox 52.0 ESR

The new Mozilla Firefox 52.0 ESR is designed with support for the emerging WebAssembly standard which boosts the performance of Web-based games and apps without the need for plugins, and multi-process for Windows users with touchscreens.

Every new release from the Firefox developers featured a new way to improve the security of the most sought after browser across all supported platforms. A " This connection is not secure" warning is sent for non-secure and malicious pages that prompts user logins. A new Strict Secure Cookies specification is also implemented in the new Firefox 52.0 ESR.

" Implemented the Strict Secure Cookies specification which forbids insecure HTTP sites from setting cookies with the " secure" attribute. In some cases, this will prevent an insecure site from setting a cookie with the same name as an existing " secure" cookie from the same base domain," explain the Mozilla developers in the release notes.

Users who download a lot from Firefox may be happy with what Mozilla developers has done to its downloads option by adding notification for the failed downloads. Also, it improves the text input for the third party keyboard layouts on the Windows Operating Systems.
