KDE Announce EGLStreams KWin Support and Other Fixes
All the KDE users can rejoice with the major updates announced from the KDE space, with one of them being KWin picking up support for the NVIDIA EGLStreams implementation for Wayland with this proprietary graphics driver.
This means KDE's EGLStreams back-end for the KWin Wayland compositor has been merged. It was only at the end of last year NVIDIA announced that it was developing an EGLStreams back-end for KWin, similar to the efforts in getting EGLStreams support into GNOME's Mutter compositor.
The Proof-of-concept code for KWin with EGLStreams entered review soon thereafter. And now, following months of review, the back-end has been merged into KWin Git.Last week also saw many fixes and improvements to the desktop landing from the KDE Space.
This past week also saw various system settings improvements, addressing of a common Plasma crash case, an overhaul to the SDDM settings page, and other fixes.
