How to install Vivaldi Browser in Linux

Features of Vivaldi

Quick Commands : This feature lets user to search through various settings, tabs, bookmarks and history with a keyboard shortcut. This feature aims at allowing users to create their custom commands and run them as and when required.
Notes : It allows user to take notes while browsing and add screenshots. The notes will keep track of the website you were browsing while taking notes. You can add tags to the notes and organize it can be find later.
Speed Dials : A graphical blocks of favorite sites grouped together access them from a single window. The most powerful fact of this feature is you can add a folder to speed dial as well.
Tab Stacks : Group multiple tabs together using tab stack This feature makes it possible to group multiple tabs into single thus organizing your work.
Built on Web Technologies : The building blocks of Vivaldi is unique in the sense that it is developed using web for web.
Higher level of customization : User can disable tab stacking, place tab bar at top/bottom left/right and change tab cycling order.
Site info : It provides you with the details of cookies and site data as well as view connection information, a security measure implementation.

Future Plans and expectation

The current software is just a glimpse of what we can see in the release and its not stable. But it never means its buggy. Lack of Extensions support, built-in email client, bookmarks, history, notes, session sync, Spatial Navigation, performance, etc.

To install a Vivaldi Browser in Linux

Its available for all major platforms like Windows, Mac and Linux. download and choose as per your linux distributions.

Download and install Vivaldi on your Linux distributions by using the following wget command.

This website provide latest Tech preview, hence it does not include 32 bit architecture. You can download and install 32 bit packages from the above instruction.

To install the Vivaldi web browser

Use the following command, to install the Vivaldi web browser.

To solve dependency problem

During installation it prompts some dependency issue. So to overcome that first run the below command.

Vivaldi Testing

Once the command is executed the Welcome screen of vivaldi web browser appears.

Add your favorite sites in speed dial section by selecting plus “ +” sign.

The web page is loaded as smooth with all the text, images and ads without truncation.

While you visit some website you may think that the piece of code is intelligent enough to remember so to take notes and add screenshot follow the below steps.

1.Select Notes icon from the top left side corner of the browser.

2. click add to add notes for the web page.

Bookmarks save the sites you want to refer to, later or your frequently visited sites.

Select bookmark icon from the top left side corner of the browser and click add a new bookmark.

To know the keyboard shortcuts,select the Vivaldi icon then select tools and click quick commands.
