To install Stickynotes in Ubuntu

Stickynotes is an application that used as reminder app for the Linux distributions. It allows the users to take notes and write lists in the sticky-notes. Users can also pin stickynotes anywhere on the desktop. Stickynotes works with Unity, Gnome Shell, XFCE, KDE, MATE and Cinnamon. Installation of Stickynotes in Ubuntu is explained in this article.

Installation of Stickynotes

Before the installation process, add the required repository with the following command.

root@linuxhelp1:~# add-apt-repository ppa:umang/indicator-stickynotes
 Official releases of Indicator Stickynotes (https://launchpad.net/indicator-stickynotes).

To install Indicator Stickynotes, you will need to add this PPA to your system (instructions below) and install the `indicator-stickynotes` package. See the instructions below.

METHOD 1 (Command-line):

     sudo apt-add-repository ppa:umang/indicator-stickynotes
     sudo apt-get update & &  sudo apt-get install indicator-stickynotes

METHOD 2 (User interface):

     Step 1: Open " Software &  Updates."  Go to Other Software ->  Add. Now type `ppa:umang/indicator-stickynotes` (without the `quotes`). Add the source and close the window. You will be asked to reload sources. Click " Reload" .
     Step 2: Open the Ubuntu Software Center, search for Indicator Stickynotes, and install.

Next update the newly added repository with the " apt-get update" command.

Start the installation of Stickynotes by using the following command.

root@linuxhelp1:~# apt-get install indicator-stickynotes -y

  libpango1.0-0 libpangox-1.0-0 linux-headers-4.4.0-21 linux-headers-4.4.0-21-generic linux-image-4.4.0-21-generic

Use ' sudo apt autoremove'  to remove them.

Stickynotes is now ready to use. Open the application through the Unity dash as shown below.

Place a message in the stickynote and drag it anywhere on your desktop screen. Lock option is also available to hide your secret notes.

To uninstall Stickynotes package

Run the following command to remove the Stickynotes.

root@linuxhelp1:~# apt-get remove indicator-stickynotes -y

The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:

  indicator-stickynotes
