How to install Googler in Ubuntu 16.04
Google search is a well known and the widely-used search engine on the World Wide Web (WWW), if you want to gather information from millions of servers on the Internet, then it is the number one and most reliable tool and much more. To access Google from Linux terminal, then this tutorial covers the topic on how to install Googler.
Features of Googler
- Offers access to Google Search, Google Site Search, Google News.
- It is fast and clean with custom colors and no ads, stray URLs or clutter included.
- Allows navigation of search result pages from omniprompt.
- Supports fetching of number of results in a go, users can start at the nth result.
- Supports limiting of search by attributes such as duration, country/domain specific search (default: .com), language preference.
- Supports Google search keywords in the form filetype:mime, site:somesite.com and many others.
- Supports HTTPS proxy services.
- Ships in with a man page which includes examples, shell completion scripts for Bash, Zsh and Fish.
Installing Googler
Googler is a command line tool to access Google from Linux terminal. To install Googler, add the repository by running the following command.
root@linuxhelp:~# add-apt-repository ppa:twodopeshaggy/jarun
Ubuntu packages for the following utilities:
googler: Google Search, Google Site Search, Google News from the terminal.

By using Googler, the system recieves the results of various websites. In order to get the help in googler, type the following command.
googler (? for help) ? omniprompt keys: n, p fetch the next or previous set of search results index open the result corresponding to index in browser f jump to the first page o open the current search in browser g keywords new Google search for ' keywords' with original options q, ^D, double Enter exit googler ? show omniprompt help * any other string initiates a new search with original options googler (? for help)
To search a particular key word in a particular site where the options:
- -n num &ndash tells googler to display at most 8 results per a page (default is 10).
- -w &ndash enables Google site search.
