Frequently asked questions ( 5 )

Q

Is QuickShow included with Beyond?

A

Although some of Beyond's screens look like QuickShow, Beyond is a separate program; QuickShow is not included.

Beyond builds, on the significant user interface improvements, we introduced with QuickShow. But Beyond goes much deeper, to give greater control. It really is the best of QuickShow plus Lasershow Designer 2000.

As we continue to develop Beyond and add features, it will pull away even further from its QuickShow sibling.

Q

What are the differences between QuickShow and Beyond?

A

QuickShow lacks a number of professional features, such as an advanced multimedia timeline, advanced frame creation tools, and advanced 3D modeling and animation capabilities. QuickShow was purposely designed without these things because 1) having too many features tends to confuse new laser show users and 2) most beginners don't need these particularly advanced features.

Q

Is Beyond a replacement for LD2000?

A

No, not now. We will continue to sell our Lasershow Designer 2000 systems for the foreseeable future. This especially helps persons needing compatibility with current installations. Longer term, Beyond will be the flagship Pangolin laser software. It is a more modern version of LD2000 that is easier to use, especially for beginners.

Q

How does LivePro work with Beyond?

A

LivePro is a separate Pangolin program which is optimized for live performance. It works differently and has a different approach and philosophy then Beyond. While we do have live performance controls in Beyond, anyone doing complex live shows should continue to use LivePro. LivePro will be supported and updated long into the future.

Q

How will Beyond improve operator workflow and creativity?

A

If you already know LD2000, the current version of Beyond will give you somewhat similar functionality. But a key advantage comes for the new user, and the LD2000 user willing to do things the "Beyond way". It is much easier to create laser shows with the QuickShow-like interface in Beyond. Using QuickTools is much faster than, for example, editing transitions in an effect on LD2000's Showtime program.
Beyond is further developed, its capabilities and workflow will continue to improve over LD2000.
