Cisco and Google collaborate on new hybrid-cloud approach named Goodzilla
Cisco and Google announced their new partnership codenamed Goodzilla. This will enable Cisco customers to run and move their applications between Cisco data centres and Google Cloud platform. They are bound together by Kubernetes and Istio.
Kubernetes is an open-source container manager and Cisco also added Kubernetes to Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI). This helps the system administrators to deploy and migrate applications seamlessly across same policies.
The another bond Istio is an open-source platform build on Kubernetes. It allows the user to connect, manage and secure microservices. It also provides automatic load balancing, traffic behaviour, pluggable policy layer, and secure service -to- service authentication.
With both Kubernetes and Istio, Cisco will seamlessly move workloads between data centres and GCP.
Boris Renski, CMO of OpenStack cloud power Mirantis, speculates that Google has a master plan to fight for cloud dominance and this is the first business step to it. Renski wrote, " I' d like to postulate that Kubernetes was the first move in a longer chess game to AWS: One where the end goal is to destroy costs associated with moving workloads between clouds."
This enables us to destroy Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud costs and also AWS. If done correctly, this could bring massive changes in the Cloud World.
