UUID

UUID is an identifier for block devices in Linux distribution. UUID is a DCE compatible Universally Unique Identifier library, where DCE stands for Distributed Computing Environment. It is used to generate the unique identifiers for the objects which can access beyond the local system. The UUIDs generated via library can be expected to be unique within a system or unique across all systems.
