To Install FileZilla in Debian

FileZilla is an open source cross platform FTP application that consists of FileZilla Client and FileZilla Server. The client supports FTP, SFTP and FTPS to share folders over a network. Installation of Filezilla in Debian is explained in this article.

Installation of FileZilla

Utilize the following command to enter into the ' /usr/' directory.

root@linuxhelp:~# cd /usr/

Download the latest Filezilla tar file.

root@linuxhelp:/usr# wget http://nchc.dl.sourceforge.net/project/filezilla/FileZilla_Client/3.22.2.2/FileZilla_3.22.2.2_x86_64-linux-gnu.tar.bz2

Once the file is downloaded, extract it by using tar command.

root@linuxhelp:/usr# tar xvf FileZilla_3.22.2.2_x86_64-linux-gnu.tar.bz2

Now its time to create the application launcher, go to Activities -> Main menu.

Just select an Internet option and then hit on New item.

In the launcher properties window, select the executed file path and then click OK option.

Once the Filezilla is added on list, close it.

Click on activities and then type Filezilla to launch it.

The welcome window will appear, once the Filezilla is installed. Click on OK to process.
