How to install Caffeine on Ubuntu 17.04

The Caffeine is a simple indicator applet on Ubuntu panel that allows the user to temporarily prevent the activation of the screensaver, screen lock and the powersaving mode. This tutorial explains the installation procedure of Caffeine on Ubuntu 17.04.

Installation procedure

To start the installation procedure, add the repo by executing the following command.

root@linuxhelp1:~# add-apt-repository ppa:eugenesan/ppa
This repository contains collection of customized, updated, ported and backported
packages for two last LTS releases and latest pre-LTS release.
Packages for older releases relocated to ppa:eugenesan/archive or deleted.

The repositories have been added to the system. Now update the repo using the apt-get update command.

The system is updated with the required repositories. Install the caffeine package and press y to continue with the installation.

For opening the package, type the package name in the Ubuntu dashboard and click on the icon to run the application.

The application is running successfully and now the user can manually control the desktop' s idle state.
caffeine

For removing the package, execute the following commmand and press y to continue with the uninstallation.

root@linuxhelp1:~# apt-get remove caffeine -y

The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required:
python3-xlib
Use ' apt autoremove'  to remove it.
The following packages will be REMOVED:
caffeine
