Blink Home Security Cameras is Spotted with Vulnerabilities
The home security cameras from Amazon are detected with house several vulnerabilities that are reported multiple times but this time it is in blink home security cameras. Three vulnerabilities were detected by the researchers.
- It allowed physical access to the device by providing hard-coded credentials.
- It allows bad actors to launch man-in-the-middle attacks when the device is requesting for the software update.
- Improperly sanitized network parameters that are passed to the camera.
The researchers have discovered that the attackers may have gained control over the device and can view the camera footage remotely by the Blink's XT2 camera systems. The victims have received an automatic security update addressing these issues for impacted devices. The importance of strong security in products that connect to the internet is highlighted by the vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities have especially targetted security cameras. To be safe from this kind of vulnerability Amazon has released patches for the vulnerabilities and users are urged to confirm their device is updated to firmware version 2.13.11 or later.
