SIP, expanded as Session Initiation Protocol, is a helpful protocol for certain multimedia sessions such as VoIP. It works on the application layer of the OSI communication model. SIP can be used to establish or modify or even to terminate any multimedia session in the network.Since SIP supports name mapping and redirection services, the transfer of communications can take place from any location, and the users can also be identified from anywhere.
